Alas the delightful spring has passed us by like a speeding racecar…
and the summer is creeping onward, like a caisson with marching soldiers…for in the blink of an eye, we shall find it gone like a fleeing fugitive…
again we will find ourselves in the suspended animation of winter’s throngs…
watching and waiting for the arrival of spring all over again, a circle of life.
SFW
I had to stay home yesterday while Vick was out running errands and getting chicken feed because there were people coming to see her yarns, fiber and the rest of the farm, so we didn't want to miss them. They had phoned Wednesday to come, but we were away all day, so we agreed to meet them yesterday. As I was waiting for them to arrive, I worked on the boat motor.
Somehow, oil had been driven or flowed backward in the system...through the fuel/oil pump and filled the carburetors and fuel line with raw oil from the injector system. I removed the line from the fuel pump and flushed the carburetors, removing the drain screws from the reservoirs and flushing all with carburetor cleaner. I then used the priming bulb in the fuel line to flush the entire line from the gas tank, through the fuel pump, flushing the raw oil into a container. Once finished, I cranked the motor for a couple seconds with the fuel line still disconnected and the plugs removed to purge the cylinders of any oil accumulation. I replaced the plugs and fuel line and turned it over. It started immediately to my delight! This removed a large worry from both Vick and I as we continue to try selling the boat. It was actually in the water only two or three times since it was purchased new. The poor fellow that bought it new, got sick right after buying it and never even got to put it into the water. Our friend Charlie then bought it from him and used it once in the river. (He had a fiberglass boat he used in the ocean and went down there more than to the river)
Just look at the engine pictures and you can tell from the wiring and other tiny parts that they look like new, with no signs of crud and dirt from use. The boat will be a steal for any angler lucky enough to find it first!!! The boat is loaded and on a great little trailer, ready to rock and roll; a fisherman’s dream come true!
A beautiful fishing and recreational boat...
What a gem...the 50 Year Anniversary Model Sea Nymph
This boat is loaded and clean.....
No oil on any parts....hardly ever used....
No dust, grunge or anything on these parts...
You can see the wires, nooks and crannies... CLEAN
Now we have come to the juncture where we will begin working on the new tractor shed. We have place the order for wood boards for the siding of a building measuring 15’ x 30’.
This actual run-in shed will house the new tractor, the backhoe unit, the post hole digger and our wood pellets, along with anything else we can stuff in there. It will be an open fronted building, only closed off on the two ends and back, so it will look exactly like an implement shed on any other farm. If we can get this pole shed built and the Bilco doors repaired before fall, we will have accomplished all our goals for the summer, while enjoying some of the fairs and festivals that we have missed for so many summers here because of working and building the farm.
I guess it’s about time we enjoy our labors for a change.
