Wahoo…What A Perfect and Productive Day We had…

Yesterday we worked on the new tractor shed and kicked butt in a really large scale. We started out in the morning with Josh coming to clean the barns. As he cleaned the barn, we started gathering the tools to build the tractor shed after installing the other six posts for the super structure. First, we had to pull the fourth one from the day before and re-dig the hole six inches closer to the back post. I did that while Josh finished up and then we flew into the building. Vick was the go between supplying whatever Josh and I needed as we installed posts and tie boards. We kept her hopping, filling the nail gun, handing it to us and checking plumb on the posts, etc. Below is a day before picture…and then a yesterday picture, showing progress the progress we made.
After we finished, we went down to the town park and listened to a gent playing and singing in the town gazebo. It was the last performance of the summer and Lynda asked us to accompany her for awhile and relax. We went to Cumberland farms and got a sandwich and drink to enjoy along with the music. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
Vick called Stemple’s sawmill for 2x4’s for the sides of the building in hopes of being able to pick them up today. We can also pick up the kiln dried 2x8’s for the roof and install them. Oh wow, we will need a bunch of four inch boards from the saw mill for purling's under the metal roofing. Crap, I forgot those… Vick will say, “What’s new about that…You forgetting?” Check the pictures out of the building  and some beautiful flowers out front. Look at the zillion tomatoes in the garden too!

Where we left off on Monday...

Digging holes and cleaning them out...

There's no way but to carry them...

All setting of posts is done by hand

One more to go after this one...

Replaced the old electrical service to the pole...

Measuring for the back tie boards...

 Adding the secondary top boards...

 Todays completed progress...Tomorrow, Sides?

 Look at all these tomatoes....

 They're everywhere...

 Beautiful blue Rose of Sharon...
Can you come out to play?

A rose by any other name....

Is still a rose... Is it not?

 Black eyed Susan.....so pretty...

So lovely and blooming soon....

And oh yes…Remember all the times I said that I stay up in the morning and the dogs go back to bed? I meant that literally as you can see…
So, what's wrong with a dogs life anyway?

Princess was sleeping on Vick's side while Snavely Mill is on my side after leaving them back in from doing their business. They'll stay there until Vick comes down after showering and dressing.

  1. Ralph will be so envious of those tomatos as in FL you don't grow them until winter. Seasons are all backwards here.

  2. My goodness you are gonna have tomatoes coming out of your ears!!! Looks like homemade salsa, stewed tomatoes and spaghetti sauce in your future! Your progress on the building is coming along nicely and a lot done in one day. Cute pic of the dog in your spot, my dog use to curl up between us and stretch her legs until I was literally on the edge of the bed and would have to get up before falling out. I put a stop to that real quick and set her bed up on the floor beside me, but she would still try to sneak up in the middle of the night to sleep by my feet. Beautiful flowers also!
