Yesterday we ran a few errands in the morning and upon our return, we dove into the building. We installed all the roof rafters, re-squared the building again and began installing the fascia boards and in the end…the 2x4’s which will hold the siding boards. Today we need to go pick up another 16’ roof rafter to finish off the top section. After that, we will be concentrating on the wall board installation. There isn’t much more to tell you about the tractor shed construction, except that after the wall boards are all installed, we will be waiting on the roofing to arrive.
We have one new turkey that hatched yesterday. We hope to have a bunch more, but the hens were stupid and sat on the first egg laid without getting off the nest. They continued to lay eggs daily until there were approximately ten eggs in there, so theoretically…we could have a turkey hatch everyday for the next ten days! Usually they lay an egg and leave the nest each day, until there is a clutch of eggs before they stay on the nest. Once the eggs are heated to 99.9° for an entire day, non-stop, the eggs begin to develop into baby turkeys. That way they would all hatch out on the same day or at least close to the same day. If these ten eggs hatch one at a time, I hope the mommy will tend to them as well as hatch the rest. I don’t know how that will work, but we aren’t going to interfere anymore. So…when we can get pictures of the little dickens we will. Stay tuned…Below is the tractor shed progress… and a few extra shots on the farm...
