We hit the bricks early this morning… wrote a blog while waiting for Tony to come for the roosters, but Mid-Hudson’s service was the culprit that kept us from posting it until after lunch, not AOL. They have their faults a lot of the time, but today it wasn’t them! AMAZING!!!! Anyway, we spend a mint for Mid-Hudson’s service’s, just like AOL’s and you’d think they could provide a service that worked. We had digital phones that didn’t work too. Oh well, when Verizon comes out with high speed here… we’re gone from Mid-Hudson…… like now!! Both AOL & Mid-Hudson both suck at what they provide for the cost.
Tony came as scheduled and removed the roosters and took 6 dozen eggs too. He is one of our regular customers, along with his brother Jack. We have 5 or 6 regular customers and I believe that through word of mouth, we are going to receive more.
I finished the ditches today. I filled the last of the water line ditch and did both of the drainage ditches with 2b stone and covered them again too. Tomorrow I will pack and back drag the high piled ditch dirt and then wait for rain to cause the piles to settle more. I might have to add or remove dirt from here or there as time goes by.
We didn’t get to disconnect the summer water lines and blow them out today, so this needs to happen tomorrow while it still isn’t real cold. If we don’t get it done, and we get into an extended cold spell, they could easily freeze and rupture the brass valves. It won’t take long to do and it can actually be performed from the garden pond faucet, using the compressor. Once everything is drained and blown out, I’ll remove the handle on the wall faucet so it can’t be turned on by mistake until next spring.
This was the remainder of the ditch needing covered today.....
From the house to the well and then to the barns.....
Here is the reason we dug the ditches.... water all winter long...freeze proof too!!
