I was told that it was gonna rain last night....I was also told it was gonna be nice and cool today and for the rest of the week we could expect temperatures in the seventies. Liars....All of them! I don't think weather people could even give you a description of yesterday's weather with any degree of accuracy. They always say weather forecasting is a science...but I think it's a shot-in-the-dark guess, as best they can muster... I certainly will not bet my life on one of their forecasts...nor will I ever plan an important function upon any prediction from someone who might even be reading the farmer's almanac!

This morning, we took twenty-four Jumbo Cornish X Rock meat birds to the processor to be killed, processed, bagged and refrigerated. We will place the sign at the end of the driveway, stating that they are ready for sale and we will offer them both here on the farm and to our farm market customers on Saturday morning in Greenville, by the library, from 9 til 1 PM. We will also sell ourRemove Formatting from selection usual eggs there too.

This is how the chickens will look when we pick them up later today....

The turkeys are doing great and should be mature and ready for slaughter in mid November, at which time we will sell them for friends and customers to serve free range, all natural turkeys for their holiday tables. They are still too young to free range on the farm yet, but the way they grow, it won't be too long until they can run free.

As soon as I post this, I am going with Vick for a bite to eat and when we return, Vick will letter the coin box, I'll finish the lid insulation and protective metal sheath for it, mount it on the lid and move the egg stand into position and fill it with eggs and later....some of our friend Joodee's, "Razzberry Raccoon Jams".
We will place a note on the board to knock on the house door if they wish to purchase a Jumbo Cornish X Broiler, which we'll have in the freezer in here. I picture this working well at the modest price of $17.75 for a 4-5 pound, free ranging, all natural fed chicken. If so, we will order another 25 birds and continue doing so approximately every month, so that we have meat birds for sale all year long. It's a small price to pay when you positively know where your food is coming from and you know that we feed only natural feed and never use any chemicals or hormones. We do it right! And our returning customers prove it! I'm sure we will receive rave reviews about our chicken and turkey's, just as we receive good reviews from our customers about loving our eggs.
