We returned from Vermont late yesterday afternoon, after a great and wonderfully refreshing vacation together in a great New England Inn, called "The Snow Goose Inn". It is located at the base of Snow Mountain in West Dover, about a mile from the ski resort itself and right on the northern edge of the town of West Dover. We had the entire Inn to ourselves the first night, because we were the only guests staying over the weekend. We checked in at 3:00 in the afternoon, finding our name on a note, pinned to the bulletin board from Cyndee, the owner who said to make ourselves at home and she would meet us later in the afternoon for wine and cheese around 5:30 if we cared for some. We took our things to an upgraded room, which Cyndee gave us, at no additional charge, affording us a much bigger room, with a king sized bed and fireplace. We kind of goofed off, lounging around the room, watching TV and reading, until it was time to go downstairs where we would meet Cyndee and have some wine and cheese. After a fun hour or so sipping wine and getting to know our host, we went downtown for a nice dinner at "The 1846 Inn", which was also hosting live music. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV in front of the crackling fireplace as Vick worked on her loom, weaving a scarf for a customer purchasing it for a Christmas present.
The next morning we had a gourmet breakfast prepared by Cyndee and her staff, which we enjoyed in the dining room. We were seated in front of full length windows and French Doors leading out to the rear deck, where we watched winter birds and squirrels at the bird feeder as we dined. After a delicious breakfast, we headed to Weston, Vermont, to "The Vermont Country Store", where we spent a few hours shopping and laughing at some of the cutest or funniest things you can imagine. We then crossed the street and went into another general store where we bought some cheese and fudge. After leaving there, we went over across the road to a gallery where we bought some very pretty pictures of a barn in the winter snow, an old mill and an old country road with fall leaves in an early fall snow.
Back at the Inn again that evening, we had cheese and wine again, and talked to a couple from Maine, which were staying that evening and skiing the next day. We had a nice visit with them and Cyndee before excusing ourselves to go to dinner in Wilmington. We had a tasty meal at "The Roadhouse", before returning to the Snow Goose Inn to retire for the evening. The next morning found us sitting at the same table in the dining room, enjoying yet another fine prepared breakfast.
We then returned to our room to relax and pack to head for home.
What a weekend of relaxing fun. Thanks Cyndee! You and your staff were excellent providers of a terrific, memory making weekend of fun and relaxation.

Today, after turning all the critters loose for the day.....Vick and I worked on the hospice shopping bags that everyone is waiting on... all twenty five of them. I installed the grommets and rope handles in them, later adding the paper tag which explains the purpose of the "going Green for Hospice Shopping Bag" and that the proceeds go to the Columbia Greene County Hospice program.
Vick finished softening and pressing the three weaved scarves that will be Christmas presents for some lucky unsuspecting ladies. They are Wool and Alpaca blended...made from harvested wool and alpaca fiber from our animals, spun and woven by Vick, right here on the farm........ Animal, to Vick, to customer.....100% hand made, with expertise, love and caring.....by Vick herself.
When it got dark and all the animals were put away for the night, we took Vick's parents home and we stopped on the way home to have a bite to eat. While there, we bought two blocks, which we will string with our rope and use to hoist bales of hay up into the hay mow next year. They were both cast iron and well worth the cost of them..........This all brings us to the present and me sitting here typing all the information into the computer....... With a push of a button, I will post this report of our outstanding weekend venture and accompanying pictures, before calling it a day heading for bed.
