This morning when we arose, the mercury was dipping to ten degrees below zero. Thank goodness there was no wind. I worked on QuickBooks until I was cross eyed, then read the AOL news and check emails...going back to QuickBooks again. We are trying to make sure all files and records are in order and ready to file our 2010 income tax. I hate to let it go until the last minute, because something always happens and it’s a race to the deadline.
Yesterday we moved snow from around the barn and cut a few more paths for the ducks and chickens to wander on. It’s good for us too, because we can walk directly to the desired location when you have multiple trails. The snow from the barn roof slid off onto the walkway and even though it packed solidly, it was still three feet deep. I dug that away and piled it out into the yard, because we’ve run out of places to push the snow. I have 5 or 6 foot piles of snow everywhere and they are calling for more snow tomorrow. This will be a record year, because we are about 21 inches above normal snowfall for the year now and have more coming.
Last summer was the driest summer that any of the original old time residents can remember, so why not have this winter be the most snow fall too.
Below are some pictures of the animals and the snow around the farm.....
Iggy's wondering what we're doing....
Luke doesn't care what we do...."Just feed me!" he says.
The sheep...always looking for food..
The ducks live in the center of the barn....
All in a days work for a duck....
This is chicken territory....
Chickens longing for spring....
The squirrel feeder....
One of the Duckpikes to the barn... (like a turnpike for cars)
