We never take any of them for granted and embrace them energetically whenever we get the chance. This morning, Dawna showed up about a half hour before the shearer was to arrive. She basically got as much set up for him as she could before he arrived. The next person to arrive was Isabelle. She came to enjoy the camaraderie of shearing day... and soon, we will gather at her farm for shearing day of the alpacas. Dawna arranged for the guy to come and shear the three sheep and dress the horn on Norton (the little black sheep). His horn was deformed from birth and was beginning to grow dangerously close to his head, so Jeff the shearer, simply fired up my saws-all and cut the very end of it off....no fuss, no muss and absolutely no blood. Within a good hour, he had all the sheep shorn and the fleeces in clean plastic bags. We then went to coffee break with fresh brewed coffee and coffee cake from Cumberland Farms.... Below are pictures of the shearing....... After Jeff left, Linda dove into barn cleaning and Dawna helped clean in the area of the sheep and alpacas...then over in the bunny brothel. About that time, our friend Joan pulled in with her friend Chris, whom we immediately ushered into the Cluckin’ “A” family. Chris was here before one time and enjoyed it so much; that she decided to come again....That was good enough for Vick and me to enroll her into our membership of the circle of Cluckin’ “A” friends..... Joan brought several pieces of her paintings and pastel artwork and a big box of tin ware for decorations & flower arrangements. Chris made a beautiful cedar bird house with mossy covering and other decorations for sale in the gift shop as well. Once we get all the furniture, displays, shelves and the hanging system in place, the place is going to be an outrageous place for very nice artworks of all kinds. We can’t wait. The picture hanging system ships on Thursday, so we should have it within a week of that. After Dawna left for home and Linda took off to work at another clients place, we entertained Joan & Chris until we decided to take off and find something to eat. We decided on the Yellow Deli in Oak Hill, which was the former Oak Hill Kitchen which is run by the Twelve Tribes commune. What a beautiful place and such quaint and pleasant folks. Their food is all natural, fresh and delicious...plus...sitting on the rear deck, next to the Catskill Creek while dining and chatting with friends, made it an extra special and pleasurable lunch. All in all it was a day to remember and we cherish these days as if we’ll never be able to share another. Joan and Chris headed for home as enriched and happy as could be with both Vick and I inviting them back anytime they wished to venture here. Tomorrow, it’s back to the grindstone as we try to finish the raised beds, sink a few posts for the run-in shed and perhaps begin building it. We can also spend some time returning all the hand tools we’re finished with and getting rid of the garbage on the porch....We’ll take it as it comes...........and enjoy it!
