Joe and Anita were here since Friday... It was Saturday afternoon. Joe's brother Charlie and his wife Shelia, along with his niece Junie, arrived about 11:30 on Saturday. Uncle Charlie and Aunt Sheila are from Connecticut and Vick's cousin Junie is from Las Vegas, Nevada....and upon their arrival, we did a quick tour of our farm and we then officially started the party around one o'clock in the afternoon... Other people started arriving and the party grew... Uncle Charlie's daughter Tina and her husband Charlie arrived with their two boys Devon and Tate, followed by Vick's brother Rich, his wife Robin, Daughter Katie and son Kenny. Soon after that, family friends Jimmy and Maria came in with their two daughters Ashley and Maria Rose. Kenny's friend Frank came sometime later and stayed for several hours. It was a time of laughing, talking, reminiscing old times and learning of these old times by those of us recently born or who just entered the family through marriage along the way.... All in all, we had twenty one people here at one time...all laughing, talking, eating and listening to interesting and funny stories of years gone by. The party lasted until long into the night with the weather not cooperating at all, although no one really cared, because we had the front porch, basement, rear deck which is partially under roof and the house itself to enjoy....and we did. Earlier in the day, the kids got about four hours of rain free outdoor time which was used to tour the farm, see the animals and fish the Pupskill, so everyone had a pretty good time. The only thing that was ruined by the rain was the floating candles on the water which Vick and Rich lit and set adrift to adorn the pond in the night's darkness. Little had they illuminated the surface of the water until the torrential downpour extinguished the flickering flames, ruining the desired effect. Considering the extent of rain that fell, no one really minded the loss of the candles on the water, because had we not built the roof over the deck this past spring, we would have been chased inside all together.
It was a lovely gathering of Joe's family which should happen more often throughout the years, because it is a mere two hours for the Connecticut crowd to travel here, or us to them, leaving no excuse for either Tina or Rich and Vick to initiate a gathering... one place or the other, if for nothing more than a cookout.
We really enjoyed the company of all in attendance both Saturday and Sunday.
Today... we are feeling a bit under the weather. I think the stress and rushing around...preparing for the party has come to reality with us feeling a bit run down and tired. Both Vick and I had a little upset stomach yesterday, which could have come from everything involved and stuffing ourselves with food from the party.
I guess a day of relaxation will mend the aliments..... I hope......
Below are some pictures of the happy party goers....
