Boy...what Vick and I don't get ourselves into with these do-it-yourself projects! It seems we find the tail end of every stupid local moron once we start to do something. Today...a new chapter in stupid called...No Shutoff Valves! The idiot that plumbed this house did not used shut off valves, except for a few remote areas. (Which could have been added by others like we will be doing?) If there is ever a pipe rupture, a fitting, device or appliance problem... you better know where the main is, because there is seldom a valve to shut down a leaking device or pipe. Today, I'll shut down the system, drain it and cut the lines to the Jacuzzi; installing two shut off valves under the floor, then removing the lines going up to the tub. We can then cut a section of the drywall to gain the clearance needed to tilt the tub up onto its side so we can remove it through the rear door and out the sliding glass door, onto the pool deck. We'll load it unto our trailer and deliver it to Vick's brother's place on the mountain. He will install it somewhere....someday.
Once we get it out the door, we can call Majestic Pools and Spa to deliver and install the hot tub. I will however need to cut open the wall at the rear door into the bathroom to enlarge it from a 32" opening to a 36" opening to allow passage of the hot tub. Fun...Fun...Fun....but easily do-able.

Once the hot tub is installed, I'll need to pull another GFCI protected 220 volt power supply line to operate the hot tub, but again, this will not pose a problem for us. I did electrical work for thirty-seven years and trained many electricians for the large company I was employed with in Pennsylvania. That's all old hat.....

We are moving along slowly with our projects right now because my foot is sore for one... and we are awaiting lumber for another...some roofing from GNH lumber and less humidity for mowing. I've been mowing in the last afternoon and into the evenings to beat the heat. Slow and easy suits me just fine. That leaves us a chance to do some things for Skip & Vicki to enjoy too.
Well, below is a look at the pain-in-the-butt we're working with right now....
