I got up this morning to 11° here and a chill in the house that the pellet stove couldn't keep up with. It's difficult when the heat is all the way on one side of the house, with nothing to move it to the other end. Henrietta Puddy Cat dealt with the problem by moving her lounging area from the cold computer room to the blanket on the black chair beside the fireplace. That was smart... making the best of the warmest place in the house, other than being on the couch, directly in the heat stream from the convection blower on the pellet stove there. I suppose she doesn't care of the air blowing on her....warm or not.
Other than the unfriendly temperatures out there, the day is beautiful, with a bright blue sky and hospitably warm sun...if you choose a spot in the open where it can warm your body. When we release the chickens, they will do just that! They will congregate in front of the house, knowing that the dark cedar logs will absorb the suns rays, creating a warmth giving place to stand around all day. They will look like headless creatures within ten minutes of arrival there, as they tuck their heads under a wind as they stand on one leg rotating from time to time as they hold the other up against their body....under their feathers, for warmth. The smart ones will fluff up, sitting on the wooden landscape timbers around the flower bed. They'll have their feet nestled comfortably under them and their heads under a wing. This way the will be sucking up all the heat the sun offers as it beats on their bodies and they'll snooze all day.
Today we want to pull the large barn wreath down and place led lights on it and place it on the front of the barn, plugged into the dusk to dawn receptacle we placed there for that reason. Perhaps we'll work a bit in the hospice gift shop, since the insulation is almost completed and we have a portable propane heater to heat it up. If we possible, maybe we can get the cement board in place and start the tile installation on the wall. Vick can start that and I'll finish the stupid stuff with the insulation and cleanup, so we can get the inspection arranged and done.
Vick has a bunch of other tings to do for Christmas too, so I might be working on this stuff myself. We'll see how everything works out.

We want to get this stuff under way, if not completed before we go away for our get-a-way to the
Snow Goose Inn in Vermont over the weekend of the 16th and 17th. We have a beautiful room with a wood fed fireplace and plan to relax and enjoy.....We can't wait!
