Monday, January 31, 2011...Clear Today, Snow Tomorrow.... Getting used to It....

We’re actually getting used to having a clear, cold day or two with a few snow showers lasting all day without any real accumulations and then along comes the biggie that whacks us. It seems as though its nature’s way of reminding us that it is winter and she is not gonna give up that easy. Today is beautiful, with a lot of blue sky and either none or a very slight breeze from time to time. It is the “calm before the storm” for they are projecting the snow to start sometime in the early morning hours of tomorrow and continuing all day long, through the night and into Wednesday with additional accumulations of a few more inches on Wednesday, before the snow subsides late Wednesday evening. They expect over a foot if we are in the actual Snow Belt...less if we are in the rain, sleet and freezing rain section. We are south of Albany, so we’re possibly going to get sleet and rain....but you can never count on anything here.
We have lots of Diesel fuel and gas for the tractors, so we’ll survive. I have to crank up the tractor and bring in some pellets so we’re completely stocked on the front porch and ready for about ten days.....Then we’ll be safe.
We have food for us and the animals, pellets and propane for heat, crafts and hobbies to keep us busy and work we can do in the gift shop, so let it snow.
My easel came the day before yesterday, so last evening; I got busy and finished my pastel of a Schoharie County farm field. Now I’ll start either the “Bastian Falls“on the mountain road or possibly a feeding moose picture. I have one of the “Catskill Creek”, which will be quite challenging, but I don’t care. It’s only time.... and Vick has been trying to get me to paint with her each evening, so it’s time to paint with her and create a masterpiece...... LOL..........
