Yesterday was a bit of a dilemma for a writer..... First thing I wanted to do was to go to the gift shop and take a few pictures of the finished ceiling, then write the blog and publish it before heading to our friend Dawna’s for Vick to do some felting of scarves..... Nothing seemed to go right though. They power was off at our neighbor’s house the night before last due to tree limbs over the wires, so Vick and I carried two five gallon buckets of water to him, knowing he has wood heat and could stay warm, but still would need water. They turned all the power off to repair the lines and remove the tree limbs, so I could not post the blog. I did go out and take the pictures....and as a bonus for you all, I took additional photos of the farm and animals. Once the power came back on, I found that the computer was down, which didn’t help with my posting either. We ran out of time and left for Dawna’s to felt before the computer was useable, so I snapped a bunch of pictures as Vick and Dawna worked on the felting project. You will actually be able to see the felting process and a finished scarf. It took quite awhile and a lot of rolling work to produce the scarves, so Vick, Dawna and I rolled for approximately a half hour. The whole process took a little over four hours or so. I worked on a pastel painting, while they did most of the work. The painting is only 1/3 completed, but I’ll give you a peek. When finished, it will portray Henry Hudson’s ship, the Half Moon, sailing up the Hudson River, looking from the Athens side, toward the side where the town of Hudson lies.
Since we finished the ceiling on Saturday afternoon, we went to Home Depot to look at wall board and if they match the discount Lowe’s gives us for Hospice stuff, we’ll buy the board there. In fact, I think they are cheaper anyway, so we will probably buy it there regardless. It will have to be ordered though and that will take a week or so, but we can use the break. Below are the pictures of the shop & farm, plus the felting project at Dawna’s yesterday......
The finished ceiling......
The winter egg stand is working out well. The product is kept at 40 degrees constant, no matter how cold it is outside.....

The hazards of plowing snow. I just bumped the light post and it broke off....
Now it's off to the welding supply store in Ravena for aluminum welding rods.......
If it's good quality aluminum, I'll weld it up in a jiffy....
Self sustained living....that's the life of a farmer.....
