Thursday, June 14th... Limping Right Along With The Agenda...Nearing Completion...

Yesterday we began early in the day with Mike arriving at ten o’clock to begin the dam building and repair on the lake. We were ready for him and took off for the breast of the dam. We drained a great amount of the water from the lake as we cleaned up the mess, but as soon as we starting placing the stonework across the opening, the water level rose quickly again to the old mark. The difference now though...was that it continued to rise until it was running over the old spill way.  That brought the water level back up to the grassy section of the bank again, with no dirt like muddy edges showing anymore. (that changed later in the day with several breaches lowering the level by about four inches) It had been looking pretty sickly since the last high water siege we had, where large debris pushed out the stonework we installed last time the high water ravaged the dam. Soon, Mike will return and we will go to Lynda’s farm with the trailer and start shuttling stone to fill the lower side of the dam to support it as a earthen dam breast should be built. Due to the condition of my legs right now....Mike will surely do the majority of the work carrying the stone.
We finally installed Vick’s swing in the back yard yesterday. Remember the one I promised her two years ago for her birthday? Well, we finally had a way of installing it, since we still had the scaffolding from installing the upstairs windows. We set the scaffolding up and Mike installed the cables and chains per my instruction and the swing was hung! Vick was beside herself as she finally got her swing for the back yard. She says, “Everyone living in the country has to have a swing in their back yard!” Sooooooo, now she has one!
Later in the day, Vick and I installed the fencing boards unto the posts at the turkey run. Today, we will install the wire, move a big doody pile and cut a slide gate in the side of the turkey house for them to access the large outside yard run...full of succulent grass to pick through.....
I’m now placing Vick’s newest artwork on-line, so if you’re interested in dogs with a musical background...take a look by clicking HERE. They are a complete set, similar to Izzy at the left.... only these are other typical breeds people like and have asked for.
The baby geese are almost fully grown already...
The Promised Birthday Swing

The swing is fifteen feet off the ground....Slowwwww swinging
The lake is almost back to normal...there are still a few breeches...
Compare this to last weeks photo......
Here is a small breach in the dam.....
This corner is also a breach where water escapes....
You can see a fair amount of water flowing through the dam...
The water should be flowing over the spillway to right
The turkey run fence in process.....
The gates installed...replace the old one against building.....
Here are the two gates to allow passage of the livestock.....
