Friday, October 12, 2012… To The Hospice Gift Shop We Go…Staying Home…

Wow…it’s cold, damp and rainy looking out there! It has been drizzling off and on all morning long. Tomorrow won’t be much better either. We have our first freeze warning for tonight…with the overnight low of 29° which will be with until after 7:00 AM tomorrow. We are even seeing rain and sleet in Schenectady at this moment when you look at the animated radar weather map, so old man winter is throwing a bone into the weekend mix…or spicing the fall apple cider of Oktober Fest activities for this weekend…however you wish to look at it. There are numerous things on the agenda locally this weekend, starting with the infamous fall car show in Albany, the lighthouse tour in Hudson, Gavin’s Pumpkin Festival in East Durham and the Hunter Mountain Wine & Brew fest in Hunter…along with many other events taking place in our rural towns and villages. They are too numerous to mention here and can easily be found on any major town’s news website. The Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds is not until next weekend, the 20th & 21st, so they have a week for the weather to either get better or worse…only time will tell. At this time of the year, things can happen fast…and reverse themselves the next day, so it’s always an adventure. Today seems like a good day to work in the hospice gift shop. We have a bunch of new things and we are going to have the opening next Saturday, so we need to get the items entered in…price them and list them on the computer to be ready. It will be an all day job of placing, pricing and re-arranging things to be ready, so today is as good a day as any to do it. Pictures will be posted as soon as we get them and take a break to add them here.
