Gladys is gone! The pond is of course frozen over…as
it was yesterday evening when we tried in vain to get her to walk into the barn
so we could keep her in and safe over night, but she refused our attempts...walking out
onto the ice. We coaxed with corn to no avail, so finally threw a rope across the lake behind her and using it as a corralling tool,
walked her back onto the ground at the barn end of the pond, but she would not
go into the barn and ran between us, jumping over the rope. Perhaps during the night she walked
upstream or down stream, feeling threatened…who knows...and she may be back, but we feel a fox or coyote nabbed
her in the night. How sad……
