Where has all the sunshine gone, long time passes…

It sounds like the old song from Peter, Paul and Mary in the early sixties but that is how I felt about spring today? Where the hell has spring gone???? It is cold and ugly with black clouds from horizon to horizon from time to time. The wind cuts to the bone… (Not really all that cold) but the wind and fifty degree temperatures make it un-comfy.

 

We went to Lowe’s Home Improvement the other night to pick up a good hose reel. The one in the barn flew apart the night before, flooding the barn just after I shut it off. We removed the broken hose reel and used the plain hose which was then lying all over the floor, so it was almost imperative to get to Lowe’s for a new one. Of course, they had none, so off we went to the Home Depot and got the 5% discount that Lowe’s would have given us anyway. The thing is that this hose reel is all steel, with steel and brass fittings so it will last for a long, long time. Lowe’s sucks anymore with all their plastic junk…Home Depot has it figured out!!!

This all steel hose reel will last for years...

All the ducks are still in and the pair of Canadian’s at the end of the lake has a nest that the female is sitting on while the male cruises close by standing guard over the female. He wastes no time getting out of the water and rushes right at you with his mouth open and wings spread…ready to unleash the wrath of freaking, pecking, pinching, honking, mad assed goose if you don’t immediately back away. They can pinch until you get blood blisters where ever they get a hold on you. WOW, what beak strength! They tolerate Vick and I along with our ducks, but they do not tolerate other Canadian geese, often chasing Doodles and Murray from one end of the yard to the other… Vick and I give them a wide berth to eliminate any problems with them…after all; they are simply protecting their future family.   

Max, our Llama now has us worried. He has a big bump on his lower jaw toward the rear of his mouth and one on the top, just in front of the eye. We looked all over the internet and through all of our books to diagnose the problem. We looked at an abscess, but how strange would it be to have one on the lower jaw and upper area at the same time??? The same with a tooth problem??? Two at once? I wonder if he did not get too near a hornet’s nest or some other biting or stinging insect. We will check him today and then look all over for a nest of something.

Everyone else was okay...

I’m surprised at the weather with such threatening clouds. Last evening I was grilling our dinner outside and noticed the weather branch was almost straight up…indicating good, sunny weather for today…although I now notice it is getting straighter, so the weather has changed overnight. Look at the pictures.  

Pointing up...means clear, nice weather...

Today it's dropping...if it get to horizontal, we get rain...
