Of Dogs, Friends, Politics and other shenanigans……

On Saturday, after closing the shop at 4:00 Pm, our friend Jiri arrived and cut down five trees that were burnt or scorched during our tractor shed fire. He dropped them accurately, where he wanted and out of the way in about ten minutes. I would have had the power wires torn off the pole five times with five trees! After felling the trees, we took Jiri and his wife Erika to the Hollowbrook Restaurant for dinner to show our appreciation for a job well done.

We had visitors Sunday, early in the afternoon, when Joey’s Mom and Dad brought him back from New Jersey where he went for a doctor’s visit and to spend the weekend with them. We had a nice visit the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening, after which they resigned to head back to New Jersey.

Yesterday we spent the day at acupuncture and traveling back and forth, but ended up taking a doody sample from Casey Mae to the Vet for her stomach problem to be checked. Today, we took her to the Vet to have a blood sample taken and see what was found in the doody sample. All that was found was a nasty bacterium. GOOD!! We were hoping for good news, so he gave us pills to get rid of the bacterium and special food for a few days to pamper her stomach. In a week, she should be back to normal again.

Josh was here today and cleaned the barns and did a lot of weeding for Vick. I removed the big pile of rotted wood from the end of the camper and am now ready to burn off the remainder of the tractor shed catastrophe…Once that stuff is burnt up, we can remove the ashes to the end of the lot and use it for fill, leaving the entire area looking like a landscaping yard…with our piles of alpaca beans, mulch and peat moss piles. We will use a lot of the stored wood out there soon, because we are going to finish the board and batten on the barn and that wood will be installed, thus creating another “clean spot” out there.

Sunday evening we sat out on the rear deck and enjoyed our new wood burning fireplace out there. Here are a few pictures of it and the garden at night…
The fireplace...almost ready to roast marshmallows...

What we saw as we sat there looking at it and the stars...

The garden on the deck...the fountain light...

I’m glad we missed out on all the shooting that took place in Chicago over the weekend. Maybe they should lift the gun ban and require every resident to carry a firearm. The ban certainly isn’t working… (History proves it never does), so maybe a move of the complete opposite might help. I know it would have the crooks thinking twice about messing with someone innocent, whereas now they are unconcerned who they hurt. I hate thugs! And yeah…so much for politics.
